Here are some other tasks I can safely put in my job description after I posted on the Facebook page ‘Vet Nurse Chatter’ to get the opinions of my fellow vet nurses;

Morgue assistant and cadaver handler.

Chief cuddler.
Surgeon. (minor surgeries)
Fracture nurse.

Plumber and electrician. Sometimes.

Midwife, paediatric nurse.

Tea maker and cake eater.

Oncology nurse.

Therapist and client psychologist

Launderer or washerwoman

Mediator and referee.

Gardener.

All in all I have a very rewarding, varied job which is part of who I am and I could not do anything else. Apart from retire maybe. 🙂

Sometimes, to boost my self esteem I ask myself, actually, what do you do?

I know I’m a veterinary nurse but that doesn’t really give the full picture of all the things I do and at the mo I’m going through a ‘not feeling very good at this’ stage so I thought I might list all the things a RVN can do. I can’t say I’m good at all these things but I can certainly do all of them with confidence and ease.

Radiographer
Cleaner
Intensive care nurse
Behaviouralist
Nutritionalist
Bereavement Counsellor
Receptionist
Laboratory technician
Phlebotomist
Preventative health care advisor
Triage nurse
Pharmacist
Teacher
Vet organiser
Clinic nurse
Record keeper
Bossy mare

I can do all these things in one day plus a billion other things! So maybe I am alright after all. 🙂
